Program Structure & Philosophy

Monday and Tuesday rehearsals serve as both sectionals and creative workshops. These gatherings allow students to develop and refine music, themes, and reflections that may later be shared in Ember Light.

Coaching groups, offered by sign-up, provide personalized support in musicianship, confidence, and presentation through small-group instruction and mentoring.

On Thursdays, the entire treble ensemble gathers. The day begins at 4:00pm with all sopranos, followed by full-choir rehearsal focused on long-term repertoire and final preparation for that evening's Ember Light service at 6:00pm. New ideas and material receive a final, supportive test run before being shared with the wider community.

  • Monday/Tuesday sectionals: 4:15–6:00pm
  • Thursday full rehearsal: 4:00–6:00pm
  • Ember Light: 6:00–6:30pm
  • Family potluck follows each Thursday service

Clerks (Lower Voices: Alto, Tenor, Bass – All Ages)

Fall Tuition: $150 (accommodations available)
Rehearsals: 5:00–6:00pm & 7:30–9:00pm Thursdays
Ember Light: 6:00–6:30pm

Clerks include both enrolled adult singers and professional section leaders. Professionals offer more than technical support—they provide musical, tonal, and procedural models that elevate the ensemble and help mentor developing adult singers and Scholars alike.

Scholars (High School and Undergraduate Students – Any Voice)

Tuition waivers and stipends available for some roles

Choral Scholars sing either with the Choristers (as sopranos) or with the Clerks (as altos, tenors, or basses). Scholars assist in treble rehearsals, help guide younger singers in their creative work, and serve as role models for the entire group. Leadership roles include a tuition waiver, and most include a monthly stipend. Scholars also present original or curated work during Ember Light.
