Cadence Choir

Discovering your child's voice

Cadence is a rigorous and inventive choral program for children, teens, and adults. Young musicians don't just perform music, they help create it.

Through the rhythm of practice and weekly performance—held in the striking and historical St. Anselm’s church-in-the-round sanctuary—singers of all ages grow in skill, confidence, and imagination, while drawing listeners into a vibrant, participatory experience.

Small ensemble • Ages 9–18 & adults • Weekly performances

Auditions now open for Fall 2025

The sound of something deeper

Cadence is a place for singers of all ages to grow through sound, silence, and collaborative creation. Every Thursday becomes an opportunity to lead, to listen, and to shape something luminous… Together.

Musical hymnal

Not just a choir, but a living ensemble—each week blending focused rehearsal with something more open: a space where music stretches, shifts, and becomes something shared.

Children, teens, and adults sing side by side. Select high schoolers serve as choral scholars—mentors, artists, and emerging leaders within the group.

The program features:

  • Adventurous repertoire, sung with care in weekly community gatherings.
  • Improvisation and composition, woven into both rehearsals and performances.
  • A rare ensemble of children, teens, adults, and professionals learning side by side.
  • Not just music. Each week hinges around readings, drama, and ceremony shaped by the students themselves.

Enrollment is limited.

What is Ember Light?

A weekly gathering of sound, stillness, and shared presence.

Every Thursday at dusk, the Cadence Choir leads a 30-minute ceremony-in-the-round at St. Anselm's. Ember Light is part concert, part meditation, part creative offering—featuring sacred and contemporary repertoire, improvisation, student compositions, and moments of shared silence. The atmosphere is contemplative but alive, inviting each participant to listen closely, to notice, and to enter into something gently transformative.

Rooted in choral tradition but shaped by the voices of its young performers, Ember Light offers students more than a stage. It invites them to help shape the experience itself: to speak, to improvise, to reflect, to create. Each week becomes a new act of shared authorship, where music is both offered and received in a spirit of reverence and attention.

Visitors are welcome to sing, to listen, or simply to sit in stillness. The mood is spacious and open-hearted—designed for anyone drawn to beauty, quiet, and the shared experience of music and presence. Ember Light offers a weekly rhythm of reflection, creativity, and connection—woven gently into the life of the community.
